Mixed Media Monday - School

This week over at Mixed Media Monday, we have a special guest host again. Sandy chose the fun theme of "school", so here is the piece I did with the theme. I used a chipboard house for the base and added some vintage dictionary page, vintage music, stamped images, etc., which I distressed The piece was finished off with a collage image, a chipboard rusted star, rick rack and a beautiful lace butterfly that was hand painted by my daughter, Danni, in lovely vintage colours.

Mixed Media Monday - Texture

This week on Mixed Media Monday I chose "texture" for the theme. It should be interesing to see what everyone comes up with for that. My peice was done on matboard, and I used a collage image that I printed off. Then I framed the image with Artellier Modelling Compound and stamped into that with a swirl rubber stamp. I think I should have waited a little while for the paste to set a little before stamping into it, because I can't really see the swirly pattern, but it does still have a lovely textural effect! I then distressed it with brown and gold paint. Then I simply added some gold netting, a chipboard letter and stamped letters to spell dream.

With it being Valentine's Day this week, how could I resist the theme of "love and romance" on Mixed Media Monday this week. This is the last of my large chipboard tage :-(

Mixed Media Monday - Swirls/Flourishes

I was scratching my head a little bit to come up with a theme for this week on Mixed Media Monday, so settled on a simple and easy theme, swirls or flourishes. This piece was done on a large chipboard tag, covered with a serviette which I distressed and stamped with swirls. I then added a collage image, lace, fabric and chipboard shapes. I was also able to double it up as a swap piece as well. It's always nice when I can kill two birds with one stone :-)
