Mixed Media Monday - Girls and Dolls

We have another fabulous guest host over at Mixed Media Monday this week. It is Glenda B. from Two Cool Texans, and she has chosen "Girls and Dolls" as her theme. This was a fun challenge for me, so many gorgeous images of girls with their dolls to chose from. I decided to do my piece on a canvas panel, about 5 x 7 inches and used layers of acrylic paints, lots of German Scrap bits and some sequin waste for good measure, LOL.

Mixed Media Monday - Paris

This week on Mixed Media Monday we have another guest host - Barb from The Stamping Queen, a fellow Aussie. Barb chose Paris as her theme, and it's a theme I love playing with, so I was happy! This is a piece I did on mount board and is about 4 x 6 inches or 10 x 15 cms approx. The background is done with Color Mists on Deli paper, lots of different colours and layers, that don't show up that well in the scan. Then there are some highlights of gold metallic paint, which don't show well either. I used a stamped image (Delartful) which I distressed with Distress Inks, some black lace trim and some fly screen. I finished it off with a gold fleur de lis and the word Paris is done with chipboard letters and an Eiffel tower sequin for the "a".

Mixed Media Monday - Believe

It's finally my turn to host a challenge on Mixed Media Monday again. We have had some brilliant hosts, and there are more to come - but it's my turn this week, grin! I chose "believe" as the challenge this week, which is really open to each artist's interpretation. This is my piece - the scan isn't great, because scanners don't like anything too dimensional, but you can get an idea. I used a little canvas, just a little larger than an ATC - about 3.75 x 2.75 inches, on a little easel, which I picked up in an el cheapo shop for $2! I painted the background, and used collage images for the little children peaking through the windows, and the little angels. I used German scrap wings, and German scrap gothic windows. It doesn't really show in the scan, but there is also some gorgeous gold German scrap lace around the sides of the canvas. Just a fun little piece of whimsy.

Mixed Media Monday - Bright Colours

My daughter Nikki is guest host on Mixed Media Monday this week. For those who know Nikki and her work, it will come as no suprise that she chose "bright colours" as her challenge. My contribution to the challenge this week is a bit silly, but I felt like having fun with it, probably the high from all the sugar in my Easter chocs, LOL. I did the entire background for this piece using Easter egg wrappers. Now, if I told you that I chose some of the eggs this year based on their wrappers, you would think I was entirely ridiculous, so I'm not admitting to that, LOL. Anyway, here's my piece - a little bit silly, but fun - and you have to admit, it IS bright!

Mixed Media Monday - Men

This week over at Mixed Media Monday we have yet another guest hostess :-) This time it's Katrin, and she had chosen "men" as the theme. I made this collage using a wine label serviette as the background and added computer generated images, some cigar labels, etc. Thanks for a great challenge, Katrin!

Mixed Media Monday - Purple and Gold

The theme on Mixed Media Monday this week is purple and gold, and my friend Gerda is our guest host. I decided to use my little canvas and easel for this project. The canvas is only tiny, smaller than an ATC - probably about 2.25 by 3.25 inches. I used texture paste, and tissue paper for the texture, added a collage image in goldy tones, and painted it with purple and gold luminere paints. I finished it off with a gold star brad, gold wire and some tiny gold beads in three of the corners. This was such a fun project - thanks for the challenge, Gerda. It was nice to do something in colours after all the vintage stuff I've been doing lately!

Mixed Media Monday - Music

We have another very talented guest host over at Mixed Media Monday this week. Cory chose "music" as the theme, and I had fun creating this piece.
