Mixed Media Monday - Mardi Gras
When I knew Cindy had chosen the theme "Mardi Gras" for this week's challenge on Mixed Media Monday I bought a Tibetan silver mask charm. Then I had the dilemna of what to do with it. I thought originally I'd make a piece of jewellery with it, but then went off the idea. Instead I decided to have a bit of fun with a peg doll - I used to spend hours as a child playing with my peg dolls. So she is simply made from a wooden dolly peg and one of the stands you can get for them now. Her legs and stand were painted with acrylic paint and her dress is made from muslin that I painted with acrylic paints and inks. I painted some butterfly lace motifs for her wings and added some feathers to her mask and voila - my mardi gras fairly. Haven't come up with name for her yet - any ideas?

Wow!! I just love this!! so original!
Absolutely wonderful! I love her! Kristin xo
What a great idea! She's delightful! I haven't made an art doll in years. I wasn't going to make anything for this challenge, because I really couldn't think of anything to do... I haven't been very inspired today. But!... if you have no objections I think I'll do a doll... I promise... if I do, it will be nothing like yours.
Your doll is fantastic!
Gorgeous art doll-how beautifully creative is this! Wonderful design and inventiveness Diane!
Thanks for the reply. This will be fun! I'll have to post some of the dolls I've made in the past this week.

She's so lovely - but yes, she needs a name... something French perhaps?? How about Giselle La Moppatop?
Well, I don't think her name would be Twinkle Toes, as she seems "firmly grounded"! Great fun, and very clever.
Oooh, she's so different--I love what you came up with--very,very cool!!
