Published!
Today I was very excited to receive my copy of Artful Blogging in the mail. This is a wonderful new publication from Somerset Studios, and Mixed Media Monday was given a four page spread! Different participants in the challenges were featured in the article, along with a question and answer interview with me. My piece of artwork that was featured is the bird piece - the first image on the page. If you would like to see the full article, I have it up on the Mixed Media Monday site.

Mixed Media Monday - Playing Cards
This week on Mixed Media Monday, we have Fatma as guest host again, and she has chosen playing cards as her theme. I finally used one of these large (9 x 12.5 cm or 3.5 x 5 inch) playing cards that I've had in my stash for years. I used gesso and inks for the background and finished it off with an image, some German Scrap and some computer generated words.

Mixed Media Monday - Hats
This is the piece I designed for Mixed Media Monday this week - the theme is hats. I couldn't resist this image - the hat really intrigues me, LOL. The piece is done on mattboard, about 10 x 15 cms or 4 x 6 inches. I used a lovely subtle swirl design paper, which I distressed, and finished it off with the help of rubons, German Scrap and computer generated words.

Mixed Media Monday - Girls and Dolls
We have another fabulous guest host over at Mixed Media Monday this week. It is Glenda B. from Two Cool Texans, and she has chosen "Girls and Dolls" as her theme. This was a fun challenge for me, so many gorgeous images of girls with their dolls to chose from. I decided to do my piece on a canvas panel, about 5 x 7 inches and used layers of acrylic paints, lots of German Scrap bits and some sequin waste for good measure, LOL.

Mixed Media Monday - Paris
This week on Mixed Media Monday we have another guest host - Barb from The Stamping Queen, a fellow Aussie. Barb chose Paris as her theme, and it's a theme I love playing with, so I was happy! This is a piece I did on mount board and is about 4 x 6 inches or 10 x 15 cms approx. The background is done with Color Mists on Deli paper, lots of different colours and layers, that don't show up that well in the scan. Then there are some highlights of gold metallic paint, which don't show well either. I used a stamped image (Delartful) which I distressed with Distress Inks, some black lace trim and some fly screen. I finished it off with a gold fleur de lis and the word Paris is done with chipboard letters and an Eiffel tower sequin for the "a".
